Power Flushing....

Initial Visit

So you have decided to go ahead with having your system Power Flushed. The first thing we need to do is arrange a mutually convenient time for a site visit. On this visit the engineer will need to ascertain a few important details and run a few checks just to make sure a Power Flush is necessary. To carry out the inspection the system will need to be up and running (unless of course the boiler is broken or we have had instruction to flush prior to a new boiler being installed). Here are a few checks and details the engineer will be looking for:

- Check radiator temperatures and conditions. Using an infra-red thermometer the engineer will check for cold spots on all radiators. The engineer will also check that all radiator valves are functioning. If any are faulty it is advised they are replaced.

- What type of system? As there are several systems in operation we need to be aware which type you have. Different systems require different methods, although the same principle additional equipment may be required.

- What make of Boiler? Boilers are not all the same, components vary. Most importantly we need to ascertain which material is used to construct the heat exchanger, some chemicals we use can affect aluminium. If you have a boiler with an aluminium heat exchanger (or aluminium radiators) we will need to arrange for a pre-treatment visit before carrying out a Power Flush.

- Power Flush access point. The Power Flush unit can be connected to several points of your system. The most effective being the pump. Sometimes however due to corrosion or just age, this isn't possible as valves cannot be shut off to remove the pump. The engineer will discuss alternative options with you.
