Beetle infestation had destroyed the bearing joint of the main floor beam connecting
the outside wall plate to the floor beam. Due to the fact that the building is listed and the ceilings were not to be disturbed the beam joint was repaired from above.
Remedy
A section of tile hanging and floor boarding were temporarily removed so as to expose the end and top of the beam. Slots were cut into the top of the beam to accommodate resin and reinforcing bars, the beam was then shuttered and structural resin poured into the preformed slots and prepared areas. Upon completion of the repair the tile hanging and floor boards were re-fixed.
