Balconies to block of flats....

Problem

Corrosion of the balustrade feet had caused the concrete up stands to breakaway together with corrosion to the reinforcing bars within the concrete deck.
It appeared that during construction the balconies had not received a water proof layer to protect the concrete.

Remedy

The balustrades and damaged areas of concrete were removed and the defective areas of concrete were prepared for repair. Stainless steel sockets were bedded into place with resin to act as fixing positions for the balustrade feet prior to the concrete repairs.
 
Asphalt was applied to the decks and the balustrades were replaced using the previously fixed sockets as fixing for the feet therefore eliminating any further damage caused by corrosion.
